Polaria: Arctic Adventure

A large format immersive interactive experience, challenging visitors to consider their impact on climate change.

About this experience

Located 350 km north of the Arctic Circle in Tromsø, Norway, Polaria is an exhibition centre like no other.

As part of a major refurbishment, this landmark immersive experience is shaped to put visitors at the heart of climate change. As visitors walk into the first gallery, this stunning wall of ice moves majestically at their presence. Ice floes float organically, starting to tilt, rock and eventually dissipate in reaction to human presence.

Visitors then get the chance to learn more about climate change, via touchscreens in a purpose built amphitheatre. Alongside short videos showing the impact of rising temperatures in the arctic, visitors get the chance to make climate pledges to consider their impact on the environment.

As part of this process, they get the chance to craft a unique ice floe, based on the characteristics of their attitude to sustainability and behaviours. This unique ice floe is then sent back to the large scale projection, where it helps to replenish the melted ice.

Project delivered with Airavata Productions, Sixsides and Spot D in 2023, full relaunch of exhibition centre due in 2024 at Polaria, Tromsø.
